Lamont is a 20+ year veteran in the music industry whose love for music stems from many a
car ride with his parent’s as a young child.
As they traversed the city streets listening to the
local radio stations, he found himself singing along and eventually memorizing all of the
classics as well as the latest tunes that his parents loved. At the age of 15, Lamont discovered
a special bond with the genre of Hip Hop when he was first introduced to the show Yo! MTV
Raps on the Music Television channel.
Since then, he began to study and mimic his favorite
Hip Hop artists. Eventually rapping and dancing developed into a personal passion of his and
he adopted the stage name “Popp Da Rippa”. He went on to be a part of several local rap
groups in his home town of Miami, Florida, as well as in other cities throughout the state,
performing at a variety of events. Lamont has served as the opening act for renowned
national hip hop and R & B artists such as Doug E. Fresh, Craig Mack, Cuban Lynx, JadaKiss,
Pretty Ricky, Pitbull, H-Town, Rick Ross and Trick Daddy, just to name a few.
Lamont has had many recording deals with independent record labels and even started his
own independent label, Vishous Vibes Entertainment, established in 2004. After a few bumps
and bruises as a label owner, Lamont made the decision to take a step back from the business
side of the industry and chose to focus again on being an artist.
He released a few solo
albums, but eventually resolved to comprise all that he had learned over the years,
accompanied by a newfound passion to reach the masses, to use his music to strive for
positive changes in our society. Thus, ICE SQUAD Records was born in 2009. After the release
of several projects, Lamont decided to broaden the scope of the label and in January 2016,
re-incorporated and re-branded as I.C.E. Squad Entertainment.
With a vision to expand into
various aspects of the entertainment industry such as Film and Television, he is poised to
bring the I.C.E. principles to the masses. Mr Nanton is also an active public speaker in prisons,
Schools and Seminars.
